Hemp Plastics?5/4/2020 What’s a Hemptensil™?
Hemptensils™ are our brand's solution to the trash and recycling crisis. Made from Industrially Compostable Hemp, Corn Starch, and food safe Enzymes, they are designed to break down safely in composting centers in 6 months, and active landfills in a few years. The material is non-toxic, non-allergenic and FDA/GRAS approved. These sturdy, freezer safe items can handle temperatures up to 200°F, before beginning to degrade. Why Hemp? Industrial Hemp is the non-psychoactive sibling of cannabis that is legal in all 50 states and 30 nations. High in fiber and seeds, it is excellent for consumer goods from rope to food, oil, and plastic. Hemp was often touted by the forefathers of this nation, as it improves soil, suppresses weeds, decreases outbreaks of insect and disease, all while absorbing more carbon from the air than any other crop. In 2019 alone, over 195 million pounds of hemp stalks were produced in America, four times as much as the year before—and that is steadily increasing. However, once the fiber and seeds are extracted, the remnants are largely burnt off or left to rot, diminishing the benefit of the harvest. By repurposing these stalks for petroleum free plastics, GreenTek™ is reducing waste, and increasing sustainability, all while returning value to American farmers and businesses. Our Mission Greentek's goal is to provide eco-friendly goods at affordable prices without compromising performance. Sustainability is at the very heart of our business; having seen 3 economic crashes in 20 years, we believe it to be the most dearly missed aspect of all. Our dedication to environmental sustainability is always kept in that perspective as we find new ways to make good things cheaper, so everyone can use them. By choosing Hemptensils™ you are doing your share to help the environment, strengthen the economy, and benefit the generations to come. Stick with us for the Ride, it's Worth it. J.L.
